Affordable housing provider Knightstone has staged a topping-out ceremony at its head office in Weston-super-Mare as the 40,000 sq ft building nears completion.
The state-of-the-art office on Weston’s Gateway Business, close to junction 21 of the M5, is being built by Dowlas UK and Midas Construction.
The topping out ceremony was attended by Knightstone’s business partners and representatives from North Somerset Council.
Once complete the building will accommodate around 300 Knightstone staff. It will replace six existing offices and enable the organisation to make significant savings which will be reinvested in new homes and improved services.
Chief executive Nick Horne said: “The topping out ceremony celebrates the progress we’ve made so far in the development of our new office. It’s been really exciting watching the building coming out of the ground, and it's on track for completion in the summer.
“Our priority is to give residents and customers a great service and this new office will give our staff a working environment in which they can do that. We’re really looking forward to moving in to this office, which is in an excellent location in a growing area of investment.”
Midas chief Executive Alan Hope added: “We’ve worked in close partnership with Dowlas and Knightstone and are very proud to be involved with the development. New headquarter office developments are rare in the current marketplace and this development is a great boost to the local economy.”
Weston Gateway Business Park, one of the largest development sites in the West, is being marketed by the Bristol office of commercial property consultants Hartnell Taylor Cook, which also provided building consultancy to Knightstone.
Natalie Bennett, associate director in the office agency team at Hartnell Taylor Cook, said: “Weston Gateway is an excellent new development not just for Weston, it is a strategically-important site for the entire South West.
“In addition to Knightstone’s new HQ, we are receiving a lot of interest from a wide range of businesses interested in Weston Gateway Business Park and we should be making some announcements very soon about further developments there.”
