Another huge win for MITIE

MITIE has rounded off a month in which it had already won business worth more than £1bn with a further two contracts worth between £200m and £455m.

The Bristol-based strategic outsourcing and energy services company has been awarded by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) the total facilities management contracts for Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) in the South of England, and prisons, at Brixton and Isis. This is the maximum that could have been awarded to MITIE through this tender process.

The company adds that, following its appointment to the MoJ's Total Facilities Management (TFM) Framework in July 2011, MITIE will also be eligible to bid for future opportunities to provide facilities management for other ministry properties, including prisons, across England and Wales.

The contracts are for a five year period with a possible two year extension. With base contract values totalling approximately £40m per annum and up to £25m project works to be undertaken each year, MITIE says total value over the period will range between £200m and £455m.

The contracts are for fully integrated facilities management and encompass security, cleaning, maintenance and project works, commencing in February next year.

In addition to these contract awards, MITIE was also appointed to the Minor Works Framework for the MoJ in April.

As a result, MITIE has formed a Justice sector business focussing solely on opportunities with the MoJ, the UK Border Agency and the police market. The contract to provide TFM for the courts in the South of England is MITIE's most strategically important with the Government and is also its largest in the public sector.

MITIE chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith said: "We have a long track-record of supporting the MoJ and its estate and we look forward to building on this relationship further in the coming years."
