Business rescue and recovery specialist firm Begbies Traynor’s regional managing partner Julie Palmer has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Julie, pictured, who heads up a network of 12 offices including one in Bristol, is in the running for The Business Magazine’s Women in Business 2014, Woman of the Year Award in the large business category.

The awards celebrate women making a difference in business in the Thames Valley and Solent regions.

The nomination comes during a busy year for Begbies Traynor in the South West and Wales region with an expansion drive that has included opening new offices in Swindon, Oxford and Swansea.

Last year Julie’s team scooped South West Regional Insolvency Practitioner Firm of the Year award in the national Insolvency and Rescue Awards.

She said: “It is an absolute privilege to be nominated for this award, which I know is hugely respected by the business community across the Thames Valley and Solent areas.”

Begbies Traynor’s South West and Wales region stretches from Southampton to Swansea and includes offices in Bath, Swindon and Salisbury as well as Bristol.

Julie has successfully managed many high-profile insolvency and restructuring cases including the sales of Bristol Rugby Club and Bournemouth football club.

She also sits on the national council of R3, the UK’s professional association of business recovery professionals, as well as working with a number of its policy groups.

The Women in Business 2014 Awards take place on September 11 at Oakley Hall, near Basingstoke.

The Woman of the Year – Large Business category is open to women directors and employees of organisations with an annual turnover exceeding £10m who have achieved excellence in their field and have helped their business to achieve significant results.
