Bristol’s first festival of female entrepreneurship, held earlier this week, has been declared a resounding success – and could now become an annual event. Around 750 women attended Women Outside the Box, sponsored by FreeAgent accounting software, in the M Shed and Arnolfini.

Visitors learnt how to build a successful business while the most popular workshops were on standing out in a crowded market place and how to write a press release.

In addition to a business exhibition, women were also able to enjoy the Girls to Girls (G2G) market, with products ranging from cupcakes to corsets.

Event director Joni Farthing said: “I have been flooded with emails from women who attended saying how much they enjoyed it.  We would like to thank everyone who came along and all those who were part of making the event a success. We plan to make this an annual event and take the event to other parts of the UK over the next 12 months.”

Among those attending was Tracy Dixon from Juice Creative, who came away full of enthusiasm. She said: “I have to say from what I saw it was a resounding success. Joni was fab in her opening speech. I attended a couple of workshops too and came away inspired. Wow – I'm impressed, I think Joni should be running for Mayor!”
