Welsh Water crosses Severn to appoint trio of Bristol law firms to new legal framework

Three Bristol-headquartered law firms are among 10 chosen by Welsh Water (Dŵr Cymru Cyfyngedig) for its legal services framework, which could provide worth worth an estimated £14m.

Foot Anstey, Burges Salmon and TLT will provide general legal advice to the utility firm as well as some specialist services. 

It is the first time Foot Anstey and TLT have been included in the framework, which also includes some other non-regulated activities carried out by Welsh Water owner the Glas Cymru group.

The framework includes a total of 24 contracts covering areas such as corporate, employment, competition, data protection, construction and health and safety.

TLT will also provide Welsh Water with advice on planning and environmental matters, while Foot Anstey will also provide advice on litigation; employment and pensions; corporate and commercial, data protection and construction. Burges Salmon is included in contracts covering competition law.

The contracts are initially for a year, with the option to extend for a further two years with a total of 12 lots.

Other firms in the new framework include Linklaters, Eversheds Sutherland, Slaughter and May, BLM, Geldards, Hugh James and Aaron and Partners.

Dŵr Cymru Cyfyngedig said. “The requirement for all group companies is for advice that is professional, competent, expert and timely, provides good commercial value and is delivered in a way that makes a positive contribution to the achievement of the best overall outcome for DCC on each occasion.”
