Walking desks and a reflection room – Foot Anstey’s Bristol office move brings in new ways of working

Regional law firm Foot Anstey has launched its new Bristol office at Temple Quay, enabling it to introduce new ways of working and boost staff wellbeing.

The 17,000 sq ft showpiece office at 2 Glass Wharf is only a few minutes’ walk from its previous base in 100 Victoria Street.

But the fast-growing firm said the move has allowed it to take a fresh look at several key initiatives, including a better experience for clients, improved opportunities for agile and progressive working, as well as supporting employee health and wellbeing.

These include walking desks – which allow staff to walk while working – and a “reflection room” for contemplation.

The move also represents the next stage of growth for the firm in the highly competitive Bristol market.

It opened in the city in 2011 with just 10 employees – a number that has now soared to 130.

Managing partner John Westwell said: “Our new Bristol space will support our strategy to provide a client-centric service. It is built on a period of sustained growth, particularly within our core sectors, and will facilitate further expansion.

“This impressive new space is a reflection of our ambition and our focus for the future, as well providing an environment for employees to thrive.”

The firm employs more than 500 people across its seven offices, with the most recent office opening in Southampton in September last year.

It is the current holder of the Bristol Law Society’s Law Firm of the Year award – the second time in three years it has secured the title based on its growth and prominence in the local market.

Foot Anstey has signed a 15-year lease on the grade A office space in a deal handled by the Bristol offices of property agents JLL and Alder King.

2 Glass Wharf is now nearly full with the regional offices of accountancy group PwC occupying 28,000 sq ft and global building consultancy group Arcadis almost 17,000 sq ft. Developer Salmon Harvester/NFUM has been reserved 10,000 sq ft on the ground floor for retail use.
