Evelyn Partners, the national wealth management and professional services group, has appointed Owen Burn as a VAT director in its Bristol office.

Owen, pictured, joins from accountancy giant PwC, where he spent more than 14 years as a tax adviser assisting organisations with VAT and indirect taxes.

Prior to that he worked for HM Revenue & Customs as a customs officer.

Evelyn Partners partner and head of indirect tax Sunil Parmar said Owen brought with him a broad experience of assisting clients in all sectors with complex VAT issues and a strong market presence in the South West and Wales region.

“This will further increase our regional presence in indirect tax and add to our expanding offering in VAT, customs duties and environmental taxes,” he added.

Owen said he was hugely impressed with Evelyn Partners’ ambitious growth plans and entrepreneurial spirit.

“The energy and passion across the entire firm is what first attracted me to leave the ‘Big Four’, and I’m excited to be back partnering with the exciting and diverse mix of businesses in the South West and Wales region.”

Evelyn Partners was formed last June following the merger of Smith & Williamson with Tilney. It is the UK’s leading integrated wealth management and professional services group with £53bn of assets under management, making it the UK’s fifth largest professional services firm by fee income.

Bristol is one of 28 towns and cities across the UK where it has a presence.
