Upmarket motel brand to open its second venue near Bristol this summer

Innovative roadside hotel brand Mollie’s Motel is to open its second base at Cribbs Causeway in July. The launch comes two years after Nick Jones, founder and CEO of London’s iconic restaurant chain and private members’ club group Soho House, debuted the American-inspired motel diner concept in Oxfordshire.

The new site on the A4018 replaces the Cribbs Lodge Hotel, which was demolished in 2019.

Mollie’s Motel says the Bristol venue will be designed as ‘a new roadside experience for travellers and families on the move’.

It will include 123 bedrooms – including interconnected family and bunk rooms – designed by Soho House Design, with king-size beds, rainforest showers and Cowshed products.

There will also be a bar, a workspace with unlimited complimentary coffee, and a 195-cover all-day diner with an outdoor heated terrace and the option of Grab & Go.

Mollie’s Motel launched in 2019, with the first outlet just off the A420 between Oxford and Faringdon, Oxfordshire. The hotel diner marked a new partnership between Soho House & Co and Quentin Restaurants.

At the time, Mr Jones said he was planning a chain of 10 Mollie’s Motels.

The Mollie’s Motel launch at Cribbs Causeway will come as a number of other hotels are due to open in and around Bristol, including the design-led Artist Residence in a derelict boot factory in Portland Square, St Pauls, which was originally scheduled to open in the summer of  2019 but delayed by Covid-19.

The hotel has 23 rooms, bar, restaurant, coffee shop, event space and terrace garden.

Other planned openings are the six-storey, 214-room Moxy hotel on Newfoundland Street and a 145-room venue from ‘super-budget’ chain easyHotel in Old Market.

Earlier this month the 197-bedroom Leonardo Hotel Bristol Glassfields, part of the new Glassfields mixed-use development on Temple Way, opened its doors.
