West Country accountancy firm Bishop Fleming, which has an office in Bristol, has made two senior HR appointments to support its continued growth.

Alison Dale joins as learning and development manager to oversee the firm’s training and career growth systems for the 300 staff spread across its seven offices which span Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro and Worcester as well as Bristol. She was previously learning and development officer at the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon.

Simon Irvin is appointed senior HR manager having spent 14 years in HR leadership roles at supermarket group Sainsbury’s and six as HR manager and director of Bovey Castle, the luxury resort in Devon.

Bishop Fleming managing partner Matthew Lee said: “In recent years we have been Britain’s fastest-growing Top 40 accountancy firm. That growth plan has been founded on recruiting the best people and ensuring that they have the best training and career development.

“So our HR team is central to this formula. We have added an additional 74 staff across the firm in the last eight months.”

Bishop Fleming was Britain’s first accountancy firm to gain Investors in People accreditation – which it has retained ever since. The firm has also been lauded by industry magazine Accountancy Age as one of the profession’s top four employers.

“Alison and Simon will help us to sustain that focus on our people,” added Mr Lee.
