National planning consultancy Turley has invested in its South West and South Wales teams, reinforcing its presence in Bristol and Cardiff.

Jeff Richards, pictured, has been appointed as the new office director in the Bristol office. His appointment allows former office director Rob Peters to concentrate on his national role and key clients.

Jeff takes on responsibility for the Bristol and Cardiff offices, supported by Huw Jones, who has been promoted to director and continues to lead the Cardiff team.

Turley opened its Bristol office in 1998. Jeff Richards recently orchestrated the office’s relocation to bespoke offices at 40 Queen Square.

The firm said its new office reflected its “ambition to flourish as a vibrant and creative consultancy with an interactive, collaborative, open plan space”.

Turley has advised on a range of flagship commercial developments in Bristol such as Cabot Circus, Imperial Tobacco’s HQ, the redevelopment of the historic Great Western Steam Ship Company Dockyard and Temple Quay. Elsewhere in the South West, Turley advises the majority of the UK’s largest housebuilders and has been involved in key regional developments such as Princesshay in Exeter.

Other Turley senior team promotions include Andy Ross to director in Bristol and Chris Pickup to associate director in Cardiff.

Jeff Richards said: “Bristol is known for its creativity and innovation and we feel our new Bristol office reflects both our longstanding history in the city as a trusted consultancy and our ambition to be an integral part of planning and shaping the future of this city and the South West region. It’s a very exciting time to be in Bristol and Cardiff and we are delighted to have committed to positioning ourselves at the heart of these City regions.”

Turley managing director Dave Trimingham added: “Our Bristol and Cardiff offices are key locations for us to serve a growing workload in the South West and South Wales.  Some key promotions and a move to new premises reflect our ambition in both locations and we look forward to helping our clients to shape the future of these cities.”

The Turley Bristol and Cardiff offices currently have 24 professionals providing planning, urban design and public engagement services.
