Property agency and real estate firm Colliers International has expanded its Bristol office with three new appointments.

Business rates specialist Steve Plowman has been appointed as a director, covering the South West and South Wales.

He joins Colliers’ rating team with 27 years’ experience spanning retail and mineral valuations. This includes seven years in the Valuation Office Agency as team leader in the Mineral Valuer Unit, which was preceded by work as a senior surveyor specialising in non-domestic business rating in the minerals and waste sector.

A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and of the Institute of Quarrying (MIQ), Steve also has extensive experience of rating appeals and valuation tribunal hearings, and has been involved in securing reductions for clients across a broad range of industries during his career.

Also joining the rating team is Dave Tanswell, a property professional with a decade of experience in business rents and rating. He joins as a business development manager from the Bristol office of CVS, Britain’s largest business rates advisory firm, and will concentrate on developing business opportunities across the region.

Meanwhile, Danielle Hatton has also been appointed as a graduate surveyor to the national capital markets team, following graduation from UWE with a first-class honours degree in property investment and management, during which she had a one-year placement at Colliers.

She will now spend two years on the firm’s graduate programme, which will include working towards the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Head of Colliers in the South West and South Wales, Tim Davies, said: “Steve’s experience is an ideal fit for our range of clients and he will enhance the service provided by our rating team.

“He is a valuable addition to the Bristol office, and his arrival demonstrates our confidence in the market in the South West and South Wales.

“We are pleased to welcome David and Danielle to our expanding team, and we know that they will both make a vital contribution to developing our business in the South West.”

Earlier this year Colliers relocated its Bristol base from Broad Quay House in The Centre to 10 Templeback, a 123,000 sq ft contemporary waterfront property and one of the city’s most prominent Grade A office developments.
