Accountancy and investment management group Smith & Williamson, which has an office in Bristol, has been named among the UK’s top accountants and trust firms for private clients.

More than 100 accountancy firms were surveyed for this year’s Private Client Practitioner’s Top 25 Trust Companies and Top 25 Accountancy Firms.

Entry to the accountancy list is based on the number of partners, number of fee earners, total staff, fee income, and private client fee income as a percentage of total firm income.

Entry to the trust list is based on number of client facing directors, number of trusts administered, total number of staff and fee income.

Smith & Williamson has appeared in both lists since they were launched in 2010

Partner and head of private client tax services at Smith & Williamson’s Bristol office, Jerry Barnes, pictured, said: “We are very pleased to be recognised for the work of our dedicated trust team, who are highly experienced in trusts across a range of sizes.

“Our clients range from trusts with a small number of investments to large landed estates and trusts holding shares in private trading companies.

“In addition, our corporate trustee specialists act for a number of pension schemes, employee share schemes and employee benefit trusts for multi-national clients.”

Mike Lea, managing partner at Smith & Williamson’s Bristol office, which has around 170 people, added: “We are also very proud to be named as a Top 25 Accountancy Firm, in an accolade that acknowledges our work across the sector for such a variety of private clients, from professionals and owner-managers to the landed estates and rural communities.”
