Bristol-headquartered national law firm TLT has partnered with Will Aid, the collaboration between the legal profession and nine UK charities, for the first time.

Will Aid takes place every November to support charitable causes and improve access to will writing services across the UK.

Since its launch in 1988 it has been supported by law firms of all sizes across the UK and has encouraged more than 350,000 people to write their will.

a result, it has raised more than £24m in donations and millions more in pledged legacies.

Under its partnership with Will Aid, members of TLT’s Bristol-based trust and estates team volunteered their time and waived will writing fees, in exchange for a suggested charitable donation.

TLT trust and estates senior associate Sarah Pitman, pictured, said: “As the cost of living crisis continues and people’s finances are squeezed, thinking about legal documents such as wills may not be a priority.

“However, recent research published by Will Aid revealed that 59% of UK adults do not have an up-to-date will, leaving their loved ones vulnerable to inheritance difficulties.

“This month has been a great opportunity to remind people in our community of the importance of having a professionally written will as well as contributing to Will Aid’s partner charities.”

Charities supported by Will Aid include British Red Cross, NSPCC, Save the Children and Action Aid.

TLT has more than 150 partners and employs around 1,400 people across its six offices.
