International legal practice Osborne Clarke has appointed three new partners in its Bristol office as part of a firm-wide set of promotions.

The new partners in Bristol, who will take up their new roles on May 1, are Damocles Merry, Fiona Sweeting and Charlotte Walker.

Damocles specialises in merger and acquisition and transactional work for defence, security and aerospace clients, with a strong focus on technology in the sector.

He also advises real estate clients on corporate opportunities, including joint ventures and acquisitions of alternative asset classes linked to real estate.

Fiona heads the company secretarial team, providing advice to, and ongoing company secretarial support for, hundreds of UK companies, advising on UK incorporations, and advising overseas companies on setting up business in the UK.

Charlotte is a real estate sector team member specialising in renewable energy, power management and decarbonisation projects.

The promotions are among a total of eight new partner appointments along with one legal director across the firm’s Bristol and London offices.

Osborne Clarke partner and head of its Bristol office, Lara Burch, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Damocles, Fiona and Charlotte into the partnership.

“They each bring a wealth of specialist experience that will support us in delivering on our 2025 strategy.”

The firm, which employs than 800 people at its Bristol offices at Temple Quay, has also continued to invest strategically in key sectors to support its strategy, having most recently announced multiple appointments.

These include energy and utilities sectors hires John Deacon, Dominic O’Brien and Hannah Roscoe who all joined from US-owned international law firm Orrick, Hugo Lidbetter, who previously worked at London-headquartered multinational firm Fieldfisher, and financial services sector and payments expert Paul Harris, who has arrived from major London firm Linklaters.

Osborne Clarke has also made a number of appointments across its international business, including in France, Singapore, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands

Last month the firm announced the opening of an office in Poland with a 30-strong team based in Warsaw.
