The LAST WORD: Slide Bristol’s ‘Three Wise Men’

Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.

This week, as we approach Christmas, we have three ‘wise men’ – Coralie Triadou, Roddy Scaife and Gareth Evans - from Bristol’s new shared commuting service Slide Bristol answering our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Roddy: I recently saw The Good Year. Since then I keep talking about how I want to move to the South of France and start making wine!

Book you read? Coralie: I’ve just read The Good Liar by Nicholas Searle. A good story spanning the second half of the 20th century. A good mystery-history novel!

Music you bought/downloaded? Coralie: We’ve been putting our Christmas playlists together, so lots of Christmas songs! There’s a Christmassy atmosphere in the Slide office and in our vehicles too!

Concert or play you went to? Gareth: I’m a big music fan and new to Bristol. My last gig was actually my first Bristol gig experience – Crystal Fighters at the O2 Academy. Coralie: He wants to learn to play the Slide guitar!

Sporting event you attended? Gareth: I went to watch Wales v Argentina in Cardiff. The win was especially sweet as I got to gloat to the three Argentinian friends I took with me!

Holiday you went on?Coralie: We’ve not been on holiday together yet but one team member is a hot air balloon expert and we want to take off in a balloon over Bristol so we can have a go at spotting Slide vehicles from the sky. Maybe at the next balloon fiesta?

Restaurant you ate in? Coralie: The team love Mud Dock and have had some lovely meals there. We’re also looking forward to our Christmas dinner with the whole Slide team at 4,500 Miles From Delhi, which was highly recommended by one of our drivers, Raj.

Thing that annoyed you? Roddy: We’re pretty relaxed, we only get riled when we can’t provide top-quality service for our customers – luckily that doesn’t happen often.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Gareth: The first image of our brussels sprout vehicle for Christmas! I’m afraid we don’t deliver sprouts!

Piece of good advice you were given? All: Always look on the bright side of life!

Coralie, Roddy and Gareth look after Slide, a shared-commuting service being piloted in Bristol. It has made 16,000 thousand miles of shared commuter rides across the city since its launch in August. It allows commuters to book their ride to and from work using an app linked to technology that calculates the optimal route to the passenger’s destination based on others requesting a similar journey. The cost is on average half that of a taxi and a little more than a bus fare. Coralie mainly focuses on Slide’s business development, financials, legal and overall development, Roddy is in charge of day-to-day operations and the drivers while Gareth is the marketing and communications wizard.
