Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Kevin Stokes, co-founder and financial director of Hyde & Co Leisure and Old City Trading Group, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? The Barkley Marathons, a documentary about the world’s toughest endurance race. You’d need a screw loose to even consider it.

Book you read? The Pressure Principle by Dr Dave Alred

Music you bought or downloaded? I’ve become extremely lazy due to Spotify but my wife did make me buy a Christmas album back in December.

Concert or play you went to? Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the O2.

Sporting event you attended? Bristol Rugby at Ashton Gate. Fingers crossed they stay up this season as it’s great to have premiership rugby back in Bristol after all these years.

Holiday you went on? Peppa Pig World in Hampshire. I enjoyed it more than my four-year-old twins. Rock ‘n Roll lifestyle in my house!

Restaurant you ate in?Bambalan. Slightly biased but when you feel you need some healthy, tasty food it’s hard to beat.

Thing that annoyed you? I cycle to work so the daily lack of consideration I see from both car drivers and cyclists drives me insane. Also, my wife’s attempts at stacking the dishwasher trigger my OCD tendencies beyond belief.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Watching my sons dance.

Piece of good advice you were given? When one of my business partners found out about these questions he suggested I “try and stay humble” – which I found rather amusing.

Bristol-born Kevin Stokes is co-founder and financial director of the Hyde & Co and Old City Trading Group, which includes the cocktail bars Hyde & Co and The Milk Thistle, as well as restaurants The Ox, Pata Negra and Bambalan. The company has doubled in size over the past 12 months with more openings in the pipeline.
