Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Jon Evans, joint managing director of Arthur David, Food with Service, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. I really enjoy going to the cinema with the family and thought this film was amazing. Frances McDormand is an incredibly powerful actor. It’s a thought-provoking yet funny film.

Book you read? Taming Tigers by Jim Lawless. I try to read as often as possible. Getting lost in a book is one of life’s simple pleasures and I read both fiction and non-fiction. Jim Lawless is one of the world’s leading inspirational speakers and Taming Tigers is a practical, no-nonsense approach to achieving things you never thought possible. An inspirational read.

Music you bought/downloaded? Must I Paint You A Picture by Billy Bragg. This album takes me back to my youth. I love Billy’s gritty tones and paired back guitar sound.

Concert or play you went to? Jackie Abbott & Paul Heaton at Westonbirt Arboretum. Another life-long favourite of mine. I loved the Housemartins and Beautiful South – the sound stays the same whatever their incarnation. And Westonbirt Arboretum is such a great venue for live music – listening outside in such a special setting is a real treat.

Sporting event you attended? Wales v Scotland – Six Nations. I’m a massive rugby fan and try to catch as many games as possible. I’m already looking forward to 2019’s Six Nations tournament!

Holiday you went on? Last year I was lucky enough to go to New Zealand for the British & Irish Lions tour – told you I’m a huge rugby fan!

Restaurant you ate in? The Scarlet, Mawgan Porth in Cornwall. This hotel is absolutely stunning with incredible views. The Scarlet looks out over Mawgan Porth beach to the sea beyond. It’s the perfect setting to watch the waves, the weather and the sunset. The menu is modern European with a nod to Cornwall and its amazing local suppliers.

Thing that annoyed you? Can I have two? Brexit & Trump!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Peter Kay’s Car Share. Peter Kay never fails to make me laugh.  I especially enjoyed Car Share with its slow humour and cracking soundtrack. Fingers crossed they make another series and keep car sharing!

Piece of good advice you were given? Easy – I have to quote Jim Lawless from Taming Tigers here. “Don’t let your inner Tiger dictate your life – deal with it and tame it. It’s up to you.”

Jon Evans is joint managing director of Arthur David, Food with Service, the food service and manufacturing business based at Bishop Sutton in the Mendip Hills between Bristol and Bath.
