This week Joanna Randall, managing director of PR and social media consultancy purplefish, answers our 10 questions

Film you watched? Dallas Buyers Club

Concert or play you went to? The Aurora Orchestra performing the innovative House at St George’s, Bristol

Sporting event you attended? My daughter’s under 12’s football match

Holiday you went on? Lanzarote with my children and best friend from university and her children.

Restaurant you ate in? St Nicholas Market for lunch – Spice Up Your Life – amazing, authentic curries.

Thing that annoyed you? The way some of the news media encourages and influences negative stereotyping.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? My four-year-old son dancing on the sofa singing “Everything is awesome” when he was off school ill.

Piece of good advice you were given? My good friend and business partner Liz Gadd gave me great advice to live and work by: “Do what’s true to your heart, don’t compromise your integrity and always be honest”.

Born in Guernsey in the Channel Islands Joanna Randall spent her childhood in Clevedon, North Somerset, and Bristol.  She has worked in PR agencies in the South West for 20 years, was a managing director of a Bristol PR agency at the age of 29 and named Young Communicator of the Year in 2002. Joanna founded PR and social media consultancy purplefish in 2010 and recently launched Represent with recruitment consultant Liz Gadd, a Bristol based social enterprise set up to increase diversity, equality and inclusion in the creative sector.  She has two children and is a keen runner, swimmer and yogi.
