Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Jo Davis, regional senior director in the Bristol office of property adviser Bilfinger GVA, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched?  Shaun The Sheep The Movie. It was such great fun. We are currently tending our own Shaun at Brandon Hill – it’s called From Dusk Till Shaun, and decorated by artist Sneaky Raccoon. Shaun in the City arts trail is going to be a real focal point for the city over the coming weeks and we’re really pleased to be a part of it here at Bilfinger GVA.

Book you read? Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It’s an amazing depiction of the challenges for a successful career woman at the top of her game struck down by Alzheimers and the coping mechanisms she and her family introduces.  There still remains such a taboo around this subject and yet it touches so many lives.

Music you bought/downloaded? Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds – Chasing Yesterday – my youth growing old with me

Concert or play you went to? This question makes me realise how I am letting myself down culturally. I was due to see One Republic at the O2 but work commitments got in the way. I need to work on my cultural side!

Sporting event you attended? We took part in the Rainbow Run on the Downs last month for Children’s Hospice South West. We sponsored a paint station – it was complete chaos with a 15 strong GVA team throwing yellow paint over around 2,000 runners all for a great cause.

Holiday you went on? We headed to Sauze d’ Oulx in Italy skiing at half term. The conditions were perfect and life doesn’t get better than chasing your kids down the mountains in perfect conditions.

Restaurant you ate in? Bocsca Pizzeria on Whiteladies Road. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and an amazing menu. The restaurant was full at 6pm which is always a good sign.

Thing that annoyed you? Telephone cold calling – enough said?

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Being with great friends – we spend our whole holidays laughing.  I also have a soft spot for Off their Rockers on ITV some of the sketches with the public are priceless

Piece of good advice you were given? I have two pieces of advice which stick with me throughout my career and daily life – i) Treat people in every walk of life the way you wish to be treated and ii) there is no such thing as bad communication – whereas no communication is a hugely damaging response.
