Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.

This week Gavin Haynes, managing director of Whitechurch Securities, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? The Hateful Eight. Tarantino doing what he does best. Reservoir Dogs set in the times of the American Civil War.

Book you read? The Little Book of Behavioural Investing – by James Montier. A good read about how investing is as much about psychology as it is about economics and statistics.

Music you bought/downloaded? Marks To Prove It by Maccabees, a much under-rated band.

Concert or play you went to? New Order at Brixton Academy. Unusual to go to a gig where I was younger than the band and much of the crowd!

Sporting event you attended? WBA v Manchester United. As a season ticket holder at West Brom, it was very pleasurable seeing us beat the (once) mighty Manchester United

Holiday you went on? South Africa with my wife Alice on safari and then in the fantastic city of Cape Town watching England play cricket.

Restaurant you ate in? Baker & Co on Gloucester Road - a regular Saturday morning haunt. This has to be on the shortlist for providing the best brunch in Bristol

Thing that annoyed you? The chaos being caused by the amount of roadworks across Bristol!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Gogglebox – guaranteed light relief to wind down to on a Friday night.

Piece of good advice you were given? Probably to download the Uber app – a revelation!

Gavin Haynes has been managing director of Whitechurch Securities since 1996. He joined the firm straight after completing a Masters degree in International Economics at the University of West of England, specialising in Emerging Markets and Portfolio Management. Gavin has been managing portfolios of collective investments since 1997 and is now one of the leading commentators in the industry on fund research.
