Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.

This week Ed Wood, founder and chief hot yoga guru at Yogafurie, answers our 10 questions:

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? The Secret Life of Pets. My partner and I took our baby son to the cinema. Naturally, he was more interested in the drinks cups and food wrappers than the movie! For that particular movie, so was I.

Book you read? The Yoga Tradition by Georg Feuerstein. A weighty tome but well worth the effort if you like yoga. I’ve never read such an informative, well-researched book. Feuerstein has managed to draw thousands of years of tradition together from across the entire Indian subcontinent.

Music you bought/downloaded? You’re the One by Kaytranada. I like to play downtempo electronica in classes, so I spend a lot of time listening to late night radio, searching for the gems like this one.

Concert or play you went to? Massive Attack on the Downs, of course!

Sporting event you attended? Chelsea pre-season summer game. I’m not a football fan but my 16-year-old son is, and we’ve gone to the pre-season games (before it gets all serious) a few times.

Holiday you went on? Centre Parcs Longleat last month. It’s a great site, if a little pricey.

Restaurant you ate in? Café Maitreya, Easton. The name Maitreya comes from the Sanskrit ‘maitri’ meaning ‘universal loving-kindness’. Maitreya is a future Buddha for the Earth.

Thing that annoyed you? My no-drain tuna tins always seem to need draining. It’s a first-world problem!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Watching my nine-month-old son playing with an old-style Bakelite phone.

Piece of good advice you were given? I recently went to a lecture given by a research scientist concerning placebo. There is direct medical evidence that negativity changes brain chemistry and this in turn genuinely degrades performance. Think positively – really.

Ed Wood is the founder and director of Yogafurie, a sustainably-created hot yoga studio in Ashley Down, Bristol. He has just launched the Yogafurie Academy, which will be the first hot yoga teacher training course available in Bristol. Find out more here http://www.yogafurie.com/hot-yoga-teacher-training/
