The LAST WORD: Bevis Watts, CEO, Triodos Bank UK

July 15, 2022

Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Bevis Watts, CEO of Triodos Bank UK and author of River Journey: searching for wild beavers and finding freedom, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? Top Gun Maverick at the Orpheus with a friend. It took me back to my teens!

Book you read? Becoming Forrest: One Man’s Epic Run Across America by Rob Pope. We recently did a trek together for WWF and I had to read his book afterwards!

Music you bought/downloaded? Downloaded some classical music by Steven Faux (a composer from Bath) as he allowed it to be used for a film to accompany my book.

Concert or play you went to? I can’t remember, it was before the pandemic! I must get out more!

Sporting event you attended? Wales v Aus Rugby Nov 2021. Awful match but I try and go to an international and have a great day out with a very old friend once a year.

Holiday you went on? Scottish Highlands (Cape Wrath), trekking to raise money for WWF!

Restaurant you ate in? Olive Shed on Bristol Harbourside – lovely staff and fabulous food!

Thing that annoyed you? Partygate!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? A large tree felled by a beaver!

Piece of good advice you were given? Stay small as you grow.

Widely acknowledged as the first environmentalist to run a UK bank, Bevis Watts has led Triodos Bank UK since April 2016 and was previously chief executive of Avon Wildlife Trust. His first book, River Journey: searching for wild beavers and finding freedom was published by Tangent Books on 1 July ( All author proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to Beaver Trust and Avon Wildlife Trust.
