Corrigan Associates, the expanding Bristol-based independent accountancy firm, has appointed Pete Edwards as a partner specialising in tax advice to owner-managed businesses.

Pete, pictured, who previously worked as a tax specialist with accountants Baker Tilly, is the latest arrival at Corrigan Associates, underpinning its position as one of Bristol’s fastest-growing practices specialising in supporting entrepreneurial businesses.

Since its launch in 2009 by Edward Corrigan, its payroll has grown from two to eight. Clients include high-growth tech businesses as well as not-for-profit organisations and private individuals.

Pete is now working closely with Bristol’s SETsquared business incubator in the Engine Shed at Temple Meads, helping its innovative fledgling firms with specialist tax and investment advice.

Edward Corrigan said: “Pete’s promotion is well earned and an indication of the progress of the practice. Our clients are increasingly looking for investment, disposals and expanding overseas which are all areas where Pete has accumulated significant experience and expertise.”

Pete Edwards added: “A marked increase in investment has made Bristol one of the main regional hubs outside of London. This is attracting more small to medium-sized, owner-managed operations which are particularly dependent on achieving maximum tax efficiency.

“Owner-managed businesses are driving the recovery but face a number of challenges in terms of finding the time to concentrate on business development and growth.

“We help owner managers retain control over their operations leaving them free to concentrate on expanding their customer network.”
