July 10, 2015

Bott, the workplace storage equipment firm, and Devon Air Ambulance Trust have won the PWC Business of the Year Awards – the South West’s most coveted business accolades.

Bude-based Bott’s CEO Clive Woodward received his trophy for the £30m-plus turnover category from Mark Beard, chief executive of last year’s winner, Swindon construction firm Beard.

Shortlisted in the category were Bristol-based global financial administration company Computershare Investors Services, Loungers – the business behind the successful café/bar chain, also based in Bristol – and Chipping Sodbury-based Ian Williams along with Pendennis Shipyard and St Austell Brewery, both from Cornwall.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust won the award in the category for businesses turning over less than £30m. The community award went to Devizes-based social housing group Aster.

The awards, now in their 28th year, have gained a reputation built firmly on the thoroughness of the judging panel, which is made up of respected business figures from across the region.

The top award comes at a time of strong business growth and expansion for Bott, with significant investment in plant, equipment and personnel.

Mr Woodward said: “Winning this award means a great deal to the whole Bott team. We continuously strive to create value for our customers, build the winning team and contribute to our local community. By taking this approach, combined with a long term view, we aim to build a strong and resilient business which rewards all stakeholders.

“This award comes on the back of ongoing investment and developing a team culture of excellence and continual improvement. The award is a testament to each individual in the wider Bott team making their contribution towards delivering for our customers.

“As the business looks forward to the future we plan to build on this story of success, innovating to create solutions which solve our customers problems and thus to continue to earn our right to succeed.”

The unrivalled awards were presented at a gala dinner staged at Bristol’s Passenger Shed. They were staged in association with ITV West and Circle 2 Success with Bristol Business News once again official media partner along with its sister titles Swindon Business News and Bath Business News.
