Bristol-based serviced apartment company SACO’s flagship Broad Quay aparthotel in the city has achieved an 80% occupancy rate in its first year of trading, outperforming the 75% average for regional serviced apartments.

The aparthotel, which overlooks Bristol’s harbourside, has also received more business bookings than any of SACO’s 31 locations across the UK. Overall 15,991 bookings were made in the year – 85% of them for business travellers.

Some 98% of guests rated their stay as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’. The aparthotel has remained in the top spot on TripAdvisor for more than eight months.

It location close to the Bristol Hippodrome and Old Vic meant it also attracted a clutch of A-list celebrities including panto star David Hasselhoff, actresses Jane Horracks, Rita May and Stephanie Beacham and Sri Lanka and Gloucestershire cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan.

Manager Emma Granado said: “It’s been a really successful year at Broad Quay and that has a lot to do with the notable location and quality of the apartments.

“Operating Broad Quay as an aparthotel has definitely helped as we’re able to provide guests with hotel-style services such as the customary check-in procedure and concierge services, but still retain that unique home-from-home set up that gives our guests more space and flexibility during their stay.”

Each apartment has designer furniture, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious living area, a bedroom with king-sized bed and contemporary bathrooms.

Some have a balcony or large terrace area with views over the harbourside.

There is also on-site parking and a reception.

SACO was launched by Lesley Freed with just one venue in Bristol 14 years ago. Today it operates and manages its own apartments in 31 locations across the UK and runs the leading worldwide serviced apartment network providing leisure and business travellers with access to more than12,000 apartments across 35 countries.
