Recruitment and training provider to the care sector New Directions Social Care has opened a base in Bristol to meet growing demand for its services.

The Temple Quay office will help the firm service the 3,000-plus care homes across the region.

The firm was set up in Cardiff in 1994 and now has three regional offices providing temporary and permanent staff to the social care sector, including care homes, shelters and residential units.

Sarah Blackmore who heads the regional offices, said: “The South West has arguably been a natural area of progression for our team for many years. We work with a great number of care providers in the area, supporting them with recruitment and training. However, we wanted to ensure that we were 100% ‘Bristol-fit’ before we set down some roots.”

New Directions Social Care was this year been awarded preferred supplier to a number of care groups including the Gwalia group, which manages a stock of 10,200 properties, ensuring the care and well-being of around 4,700 individuals.

Bristol office head Kirsty Knowles said: “Having a home in Bristol was an absolute essential next step for our team. We want to support the care community in the South West and, after much hard work, research and development – we are delighted to be here.”

New Directions Social Care is part of the New Directions group of companies which was this year named as a top 500 recruiter by influential Recruiter International magazine. It has also received a number of awards.

Kirsty added: “We want to bring our values and high levels of candidate and client care to the South West.”
