Experienced audit and advisory professional Nigel Hardy has been appointed to the Bristol office of accountancy group Smith & Williamson’s as a partner.

Nigel joins the assurance and accounting practice from the Bristol office of rival RSM, where he worked with entrepreneurial businesses across a range of sectors including manufacturing, distribution, financial services, professional practices and charities.

During his 22 years with RSM he held a number of management positions and was a client relationship partner for a number of fast-growing and well-known businesses across the South West and South.

Nigel said: “I am passionate about the South West and enjoy building strong and long-term relationships which help my clients achieve their aspirations. I am delighted to be joining Smith & Williamson and to help further build the firm’s assurance and accounting practice.”

Smith & Williamson Bristol office managing partner Carl Deane added: “Nigel is a hugely experienced and well-connected professional adviser and will be a superb addition to the team here in Bristol.

“This hire reinforces our commitment to providing top-quality advice to businesses in Bristol and across the wider South West, by adding greater strength and depth to our audit and assurance practice. I am delighted we have attracted someone of such a high calibre to the team.”

Nigel has also chaired the board of trustees of Bristol Museums Development Trust for the past eight years.

The charity raises funds for all visitor sites and museums, the collections, learning and many other activities undertaken by Bristol Museums & Archives.
