The shortlist for the region’s top public relations awards has been revealed with some of the West’s top PR agencies competing for the 2012 West of England CIPR PRide Awards. The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony and dinner on November 9 at the Grand Hotel, Bristol.

CIPR chief executive Jane Wilson said: “The CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from the profession across the UK. To be shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award demonstrates exemplary achievement, impact and value – immediately putting your work in the spotlight. The sheer number of high-quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving nationwide industry. Congratulations to everyone for reaching this stage and the best of luck for the awards presentation evenings.”

Among those shortlisted are Bath-based Geometry PR for its Axe the Pasty Tax campaign in the Best Use of Media Relations category.  NHS Bristol is shortlisted for the Bristol Van Man campaign in the Best Regional Campaign category and Truro agency Wild Card PR has been recognised for The Spirit of Cornwall: The First Cornish Whiskey campaign in the Best Campaign Under £10,000 category.

Chair of the CIPR West of England group Sarah Pinch added: “It is great to see such a breadth of organisations excelling in a whole range of PR and communications activities again this year. I offer my congratulations to every shortlisted organisation and individual."

The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. Chairing the judging panel are Gill Dandy, senior consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi, senior consultant at APCO Worldwide.

Gill said: “The standard of entries continues to improve year on year, which demonstrates an increasingly vibrant public relations profession. The judging process remained as robust as ever in its goal to ensure recognition and reward are hard won.”
