HSBC has made two senior promotions in its West and Wales team with Paul Crocker moving to the role of deputy head of corporate and Rhys Jones becoming head of leverage finance for the region.

Paul, pictured, has been with HSBC for nearly eight years and previously held the West and Wales head of leverage finance role. Rhys has been promoted to the position after working as a Director in the West and Wales leverage finance team for two years.

In his new role Paul reports to West and Wales head of corporate Mark Bennett and will work with companies turning over more than £30m. A chartered accountant by trade, Paul has headed the West and Wales leverage team for the past three years. He has been based in the South West for most of his career and joined HSBC from the mergers and acquisitions team at accountants Ernst & Young.

Rhys is well-known in the West and Wales dealmaking community, having been with HSBC for 12 years. He held roles in corporate banking in Cardiff and leverage finance in London prior to joining the West and Wales Leverage team in 2011.
HSBC West and Wales head of corporate Mark Bennett said: “I believe continuity  is important in banking, so I’m pleased to see both of these important positions being filled by internal candidates.

“Paul is extremely well-connected within the business community and has worked on some of the largest deals this region has seen in the past three years, while Rhys has carved a fantastic reputation amongst dealmakers both in the South West and Wales and fully deserves this promotion.

“HSBC is growing both its corporate banking and leverage finance teams in the West and Wales region, so I’m pleased to be able to welcome Paul and Rhys to their new roles.”
