West of England law firm Foot Anstey has promoted senior associate Stuart Cleak to partner in its Bristol-based real estate group.

Stuart, pictured, who specialises in renewables and energy, heads a team advising developers and funders of energy projects.

He has detailed knowledge and expertise in the sector and over the past two years has acted on more than 50 sites of solar deployment in the UK ranging from domestic portfolio acquisition (including housing association sites) up to large-scale ground-mounted solar sites including two of the largest UK sites.

He joined Foot Anstey 19 months ago after working for 14 years in the Bristol office of Osborne Clarke.

Foot Anstey, which also has offices in Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton and Truro, will from May 1 have 49 partners with five having joined over the past 12 months.

It has also promoted Exeter-based Lucy Gill to partner in its dispute resolution group and appointed Andy Dunningham as a legal director in its new homes/real estate team in Taunton and Anna Phillips as a legal director in its Exeter real estate team.

Managing partner John Westwell – who earlier this year was named by trade publication The Lawyer as one of its Hot 100 legal professionals – said: “This is an exciting time for Foot Anstey as we continue to grow and develop stronger and deeper relationships with our clients.

“Our new partners and legal directors have earned their position on merit and reflect the growing and diverse talent within Foot Anstey. I have absolute confidence that each individual will play a key part in delivering the firm’s client-centric, growth strategy.”

The firm also said it was on track to achieve its growth targets and celebrate another successful year.
