SciSys, the specialist supplier of bespoke software systems, IT based solutions and support services, has been awarded a £2.5m contract to provide a Future Deployable GEOINT (FDG) System. The business has come from Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems & Solutions which is the prime contractor for FDG to the UK's Ministry of Defence.

The aim of the project is to rationalise and upgrade current GEOINT capability to meet the projected range of military activities and intelligence requirements, including its closer integration into the wider defence information infrastructure. The project – which will run until 2013 – will enhance geospatial intelligence capability to support operations on land, in the air and at sea.

SciSys chief executive designate David Jones said: "This contract award underlines the strong association we have with Lockheed Martin who value our expertise in the defence marketplace." The company, which has UK offices in Chippenham, Bristol and Reading, is a leading developer of information and communications technology services, e-business and advanced technology solutions.
