Bristol charity the St Monica Trust has appointed experienced care and retail sector executive Kevin Hall as its new chief operating officer.

The Trust provides accommodation, care and support for older and disabled people in Bristol and surrounding counties.

Kevin, pictured, joined this month from The Orders of St John Care Trust in Witney, Oxfordshire, where he was operations director.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in the retail and care sector, having held senior roles with Craegmoor Healthcare, Care UK and WH Smith.

The St Monica Trust operates five retirement communities across Bristol and North Somerset, including in the new Chocolate Quarter in Keynsham.

This £60m development, in the regenerated former Cadbury’s Somerdale factory, has gained national attention since it opened as it combines retirement living with a range of facilities open to the public and, uniquely, office space for local businesses.

Kevin said: “The opening of The Chocolate Quarter has set new standards for high-quality retirement living and I’m delighted to join the St Monica Trust at such an exciting time in the charity’s history.

“I’m very much looking forward to meeting all those being cared for and supported by the Trust and working with my colleagues to further the goal of supporting and celebrating the lives of older people.”

St Monica Trust chief executive David Williams said: “As the new chief operating officer, Kevin will be overseeing both the care and facilities directorates in order to enhance the resident experience of the Trust’s services.

“In his previous role, Kevin supported the opening of six new care homes and was responsible for 71 homes and 16 extra care housing schemes across Lincolnshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. He brings to the Trust a wealth of experience in healthcare, retail and facilities management in both single and multi-site locations.”

St Monica Trust specialises in pioneering accommodation that enables residents to enjoy and maintain their independence. A not-for-profit organisation, it employs more than 1,200 people dedicated to providing high-quality accommodation and care for older people, including residents funded by social services.

It operates award-winning village accommodation, care homes, specialist short-term care facilities, domiciliary care and dedicated dementia facilities with more than 1,000 residents.
