Measurement and medical device manufacturer Renishaw is looking to recruit a further 120 staff for its five Gloucestershire sites – primarily skilled people with engineering and manufacturing experience in mechanical, software, electronics and production engineering. There are also multiple opportunities for CNC setter/operators as well as vacancies for support roles including process finishers and storekeepers.

The hi-tech engineering company, which currently has a UK workforce of more than 1,600, is holding recruitment open evenings at its Stonehouse factory tomorrow night and also on March 28 between 4pm and 8pm. Those interested can turn up at the company’s Stonehouse facility based on the Oldends Lane Industrial Estate without an appointment to discuss career opportunities with Renishaw staff and also tour the world-class machine shop located at the site.

Peter Bowler, Renishaw’s group human resources manager, said the aim was to recruit and develop talented individuals to help the company take advantage of the many global commercial opportunities "that will drive our business growth in the future. We are additionally in the process of interviewing for 25 apprentice positions, plus this summer we will again have around 80 undergraduate placements.”

He added: “We offer an excellent environment for people with the right capabilities and attitude, and the fact that we make and export the majority of our products ensures a rich variety of opportunities for career development.”

The Renishaw Group boosted revenue by 11% to a half-yearly record of £147.1m in the six months to December 31. However, pre-tax profits fell by the same percentage to £31m following significant investment in staff and infrastructure to support growth. It exports 95% of its high technology products and employs more than 2,700 people in 32 countries.

Since September 2009, the company has recovered strongly from the worldwide recession, already adding more than 850 staff – and for the year ending June 2011 Renishaw posted record turnover of £289m which represented 59% growth over the previous year.
