Two recently opened Bristol developments are in the running for prestigious regional property awards.

The Wave, the inland surfing lake opened last November on the city’s outskirts, and the four-storey Copper Building in South Bristol are shortlisted in the 2020 Michelmores Property Awards.

The awards, staged by regional law firm Michelmores and now in their 18th year, recognise the best South West property and construction schemes, as well as the teams involved in them.

The Wave, pictured, in Easter Compton is shortlisted in the Leisure and Tourism Project of the Year category Its 180-metre long lake produces consistent, safe waves to widen participation in the sport all year round. A clubhouse with bar, restaurant, shop and educational spaces sit alongside it.

Copper Building, pictured, at Lakeshore is shortlisted in both the Residential Project of the Year (36 units and over) and Building of the Year categories.

An apartment scheme with integral underground parking, it provides 136 contemporary homes with parkland views just a few miles from the centre of Bristol. The building takes its name from its distinctive copper-cladding intended to complement a neighbouring Cor-ten steel 1970’s structure.

Both schemes are going head-to-head against three other contenders in each category of the awards.

Michelmores partner and head of its real estate team Emma Honey said: “The South West is undergoing rapid transformation with strategic commercial and residential development taking place throughout the region, alongside exceptional restoration projects and smaller scale residential developments of note.

“This year’s shortlist reflects the exceptional quality of the development that has taken place over the last year.”

Michelmores, which has offices in Bristol, Exeter and London, will announce the winners at a virtual event on November 12.
