The Bristol office of regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming has recruited seven trainees as it – and the local economy – continue to grow.

Over the past year the Bishop Fleming’s seven offices have increased organic turnover by nearly 14%.

The firm has taken on 35 trainees in total so far this year across all its offices – a record number – and it is still recruiting.

The firm has also accepted five placement students in its marketing, tax and audit teams.

Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office has grown over recent years, including through the acquisition of long-standing Bristol accountants Whyatt Pakeman earlier this year in a move that creates the city’s largest independent accountancy office with six partners and 61 staff.

The firm also has offices in Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro, and Worcester.

The new trainees are studying a mixture of audit, tax, accounting and payroll qualifications to be business advisers of the future.

Partner in charge of the Bristol office, Joe Scaife, said: “With the local economy gathering pace, we have seen a rapid growth in demand for our services in particular audit. While we are still actively recruiting, we also have a strong commitment to developing our own people.

“The firm continues to grow and innovate to reflect the changing market. In particular, the forthcoming digital tax revolution led us to launch our new cloud-based Accounting Solutions package – so we need the right recruits for the digital marketplace of the future.”

Bishop Fleming has been ranked 49th in the Sunday Times Top 100 places to work, which accredited it as an ‘outstanding’ employer.
