Raft of promotions across its offices strengthens regional law firm Wards

Regional law firm Wards Solicitors has made a number of promotions, including a new head of conveyancing, four new partners and two associates. 

Rebecca Stuart, an existing partner at the firm with more than 15 years’ experience in residential conveyancing, takes up the role of head of conveyancing while the new partners are Jeremy Johnson, Laura Jakeways, Alison Lamont and Emma Kerry.

Rebecca, pictured above, has been with Wards since 2001, working on all aspects of residential property including freehold and leasehold sale and purchase, the creation of lease schemes for newly flats, adverse possession and other complicated Land Registry applications and transfer of equity.

She is based in Wards’ Clevedon office and works across the firm’s 11 offices, which are based across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset.

After gaining her law degree in 2000, Rebecca qualified as a solicitor in 2004, specialising in residential conveyancing and also in equine law since 2006. 

She takes over from Susan Ellis who has recently retired.

Rebecca said: “Moving into the role as head of conveyancing is a privilege. My goal is to continue to grow and support Wards’ conveyancing team which already consists of many experienced and knowledgeable people.

“While these are challenging times, we are working hard to provide our clients with the excellent service they are used to.”

Wards managing partner David Sheridan added: “Rebecca is a highly experienced conveyancer who really understands our business, and our clients. 

“Her promotion is well deserved and reflects the hard work and effort she has put in over the years.”

New partner Jeremy Johnson, pictured above left, is a member of the firm’s commercial property team based in its Weston-super-Mare office while Alison Lamont, pictured above right, is a Court of Protection specialist based at Wards’ Bristol office.

Emma Kerry, pictured left, is a disputes specialist focusing mainly on cases involving wills and inheritance matters, works at the firm’s Clevedon office.

Laura Jakeways, pictured right, who specialises in Wills and probate cases, is based at the Portishead branch.

New associate Alison Mellor is also a Wills and probate specialist based in Bristol and Richard Green is a personal injury claims solicitor working in North Somerset.

Wards employs more than 75 legal specialists providing a full range of legal services to both local businesses and individuals.
