The annual St Peter’s Hospice corporate quiz has raised a record-breaking £18,240 towards caring for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Some 28 teams took part in the quiz at The Bristol Pavilion with accountancy group PwC taking first place, law firm Burges Salmon second with a team from lawyers Veale Wasbrough Vizards placing third.

St Peter’s Hospice corporate fundraiser Caroline Booth-Morris said: “Our annual corporate quiz was a great night and I can’t believe how much we managed to raise!

“I must say a big thank you to Barclays, who supported us for the third year, providing and running the quiz. They also provided a volunteer team to help on the evening and generously donated £9,000 matched funding to our final total.

Sounds Commercial supported the event by providing additional audio-visual equipment.

As Bristol’s only adult hospice, St Peter’s Hospice cares for more than 2,000 patients a year as well as supporting family members.

All services are provided free of charge but this care costs around £19,000 a day. For around £14,000 of that, the hospice relies on gifts in wills, kind donations and funds generated by the hospice shops.
