Accountancy firm Baker Tilly has strengthened its Bristol office with two promotions in its tax team.

Matthew Sewell, who has been with Baker Tilly for five years, becomes tax partner while Andrew Gordon, who has more than 10 years’ experience of working with a mix of international companies, multi-national groups and small and medium-sized firms, has been appointed tax director.

In his new role Matthew, who also has extensive experience of advising businesses on issues such as shareholder taxation, international tax issues and exit strategies, will work with a range of clients from smaller private companies to large multinational groups on a wide range of tax issues. He is a key member of Baker Tilly’s technology and media team and international tax group.

Andrew’s areas of expertise include conducting transfer pricing policy studies, tax due diligence support, the management of tax compliance services to large groups of companies and dealing with all aspects of HMRC inquiries.

Baker Tilly Bristol office managing partner Kate Reid said: “These promotions are well deserved and reflect the growth and investment into the Bristol office and South West. During the past six months we have grown our audit and advisory offering with the transfer into Bristol of Tom Morgan as audit partner and recruitment of Mark Powell as associate director into our advisory team.”
