PR agency’s ambitious target for £1m turnover after boosting its team with five new appointments

Bristol corporate communications agency AMBITIOUS PR has made five strategic hires as it aims for a turnover of £1m turnover this year.

The agency, which launched 10 years, grew revenue by 50% in 2021, describing it as as “an incredible year”. 

Now it is looking to accelerate further with its new arrivals broadening its skills base and heralding a new focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability communications.

The new joiners, who bring AMBITIOUS’s total headcount to 16, are:

  • Katy Barney, who joins as senior PR consultant from London-based global advisory consultancy Project Associates with a remit to develop and deliver ESG and sustainability communications strategies for clients across multiple sectors.
  • Joseph Wright, who joins as digital communications specialist from the global strategic communications firm Kekst CNC, also based in London. He will develop the company’s digital offer, bringing expertise in digital insights, creative content development and online reputation management.
  • Rob Stewart, a former Daily Telegraph football correspondent and senior regional news reporter who will use his frontline newspaper journalism experience to further develop the company’s specialist media relations offering.
  • Simon Boddy, a PR consultant whose experience in the events industry, supporting some of the country’s largest events, as well as operating within the worlds of AV, tech and local authorities, will boost the company’s all-round capabilities in media relations, social media and communications strategy. Simon previously spent five-and-a-half years with Bristol-based communications agency Plaster.
  • Maria Abshir, a UWE business management graduate, who joins AMBITIOUS as marketing assistant following a successful internship with the company through the university’s Strive scheme.

It has won The Drum Recommends PR Agency of the Year (under 40 staff) for the past four years.
