National planning consultancy Boyer has opened an office in Bristol to cover the South West and expanded its workforce.

The new base adds to the consultancy’s existing office network across the South of England and Wales and is headed by director Alistair Macdonald, who joins from RPS Bristol where he was a planning director.

Alistair, pictured, has more than 20 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors having previously held senior positions in local government and at a major UK homebuilder, as well as in other planning consultancies.

Alistair will be joined by associate director James Millard, who has moved from Pegasus Planning Group where he was a principal planner.

Boyer’s clients include most of the UK’s major housebuilders, a number of housing associations, the NHS, universities, retailers and local authorities as well as a large number of private developers and landowners.

Boyer executive director Hayley Ellison said: “Our new office in Bristol will enhance our local expertise and add to our current capabilities to benefit our existing and potential clients across the South West.

“The region has potential for growth in the scope and variety of work and our new team in Bristol are in the ideal location to work with local authorities and developers to help deliver new homes and contribute to the local economy.”

Alistair Macdonald added: “It allows us to use our local knowledge and experience to build on Boyer’s success and enable us to have an even stronger platform in the region to maximise our ability to deliver opportunities for clients.”
