Bristol law firm VWV has further expanded its corporate team with the appointment of Martin Reid as its ninth corporate partner.

The firm, formerly Veale Wasbrough Vizards, already has one of the largest and most-experienced corporate law teams in the region and is now expanding into London, where Martin will be based.

The team acts for all types of businesses including start-ups, owner-managed businesses, national and international groups as well as banks and other finance houses on a range of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, buy-outs, restructuring deals and joint ventures.

Over the past four years it has advised on more than 250 corporate deals in the education, healthcare, family business, technology and aerospace and defence sectors.

Dual-qualified corporate lawyer Martin joins VWV from Oury Clark. He originally qualified in Scotland in 1994 before moving to London in 1996.

He has worked for national and international law firms Norton Rose, McDermott Will & Emery and Dundas & Wilson and was also seconded to Diageo as part of the Guinness/Grand Metropolitan merger.

Martin’s experience spans corporate, commercial and finance work, including private equity, takeovers and mergers, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and cross-border mergers.

VWV London office managing partner David Emanuel said: “We have made some significant partner and senior lateral hires into our London office since joining forces with Vizards Tweedie in the capital in 2009 – including into education, public sector/commercial, employment, real estate and construction.

“It is great to complement these hires with the appointment of a corporate lawyer with Martin’s reputation.”
