Accountancy firm Grant Thornton has grown its financial services expertise in the West with the appointment of two managers to meet an increasing demand for regulatory and transaction services.

Paul Staples joins the Bristol office from the firm’s 200-strong financial services group in London. Paul, who has previous experience in external audit and in industry, will work with firms on regulatory and due diligence assignments.

Amanda Mawby returns to the Bristol office following maternity leave and brings strong regulatory experience in financial promotions, adviser reviews and section 166 skilled-person reviews.

The team works with regulated firms across a region spanning Bristol, Cheltenham, Swindon, Bournemouth, Exeter and Cardiff.

Director Terry Baxter said: “Our clients value local expertise and experience that is tailored to their needs.

“The Retail Distribution Review (RDR) continues to present regulatory challenges and increasingly is driving transactions amongst IFAs and wealth managers. Our recent market research survey also confirmed that distribution and IT continue to be the areas which will be impacted most by the RDR.”
