Churngold Group, the Avonmouth-based diversified waste management business, has promoted Emma Keen to the newly-created job of environmental director of its waste and recycling business.

The board-level role makes Emma responsible for overseeing Churngold’s environmental compliance regime as it looks to grow its business in areas such as processing hazardous soils and recycling.

Emma, who holds a master’s degree in waste and resource management from Cranfield University, has been Churngold’s environment manager for five years. Prior to that she worked as an environment officer at the Environment Agency.

Churngold Waste & Recycling managing director John Barcham said: “Emma’s promotion and the creation of this new position on the board reflects our aim to ensure the highest levels of environmental compliance in the business, which is critical to our reputation in the industry and future growth.”

Emma added: “I am very excited about my new position and look forward to establishing the business as an exemplar when it comes to compliance.”
