Two specialist higher education lawyers at Bristol-headquartered law firm VWV have been promoted to partner.

Robin Rajanah and Bob Fahy work closely with higher education institutions and providers across the UK, advising them on a wide range of employment and complex property matters.

Robin, pictured right, who is based in VWV’s Bristol head office, joined the firm’s commercial property team in 2008. He focuses on advising universities on commercial property matters, including acquisitions, disposals, development and estate management, and has supported the University of Bristol on the acquisition and development of several properties across Bristol.

London-based Bob, pictured left, has been with the firm since 2006 and specialises in advising higher education clients on all aspects of employment law.

His experience ranges from academic staff contracts and HR policies to collective consultations and employment tribunal litigation.

He also provides bespoke training to university HR teams and managers and has led five of the firm’s employment lawyers in supporting the University of Southampton’s in-house legal team.

The promotions are the latest step in VWV’s growth strategy in the higher education sector. The team was strengthened this summer by the arrival of former University of Exeter director of legal and insurance services Claire Turner as a consultant.

The team was also recognised as among the best in the country by the independent directories Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

VWV higher education practice head Jane Byford said: “Bob and Robin have worked diligently on behalf of our clients throughout their time with the firm, and it is a great pleasure to welcome them to the partnership.

“With the appointment of Claire Turner and these promotions we have 18 higher education specialists at partner level covering a wide range of legal services required by our diverse education clients.”

VWV has more than 80 partners and 430-plus staff across its offices in Bristol, London, Watford and Birmingham.
