Accountancy firm Deloitte has promoted Ian Howse, who leads its South West public sector team, to partner.

Ian, pictured, joined Deloitte in 2009 and built up the regional public sector team from scratch to become one of the most successful in the region. He had previously spent five years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers' public sector team and, prior to that, worked at the Audit Commission for 10 years.

The team, based at Deloitte's Bristol and Cardiff offices, provides audit and advisory services to more than 20 clients in sectors ranging from healthcare and education to emergency services and local government.

Ian specialises in external and internal audit and advisory services, helping organisations reduce costs and make the most of their finance teams at a time when they are under significant pressure to save money without sacrificing services.

Deloitte regional practice senior partner Denis Woulfe said: “The success of the public sector is extremely important to the economy of our region. Our investment in Ian underlines our commitment to both the sector and economic development. Ian’s drive and commitment will, no doubt, enable us to continue to grow our presence in this important sector.”

Ian’s promotion coincides with the appointment of a further 47 partners in Deloitte offices throughout the UK.
