Moving towards employee ownership and creating the advisors of the future have earned Bristol-based financial planning specialist Paradigm Norton a major industry accolade for the second time.

It has been named Adviser Firm of the Year at the 2019 Money Marketing Awards – beating firms such as Carrington Investments, Finura and Magenta Financial Planning.

The award recognises Paradigm Norton as one of the UK’s leading financial planning businesses and acknowledges the “bold steps” it has recently taken towards employee ownership – as reported by Bristol Business News last week – and continuing to build on the trust it set up to promote its charity work.

Judges commended the company for “breeding not only the advisors of the future, but the ones that will set the tone from the top, helping their clients navigate their whole life journey with a fully rounded proposition”.

Paradigm Norton CEO Barry Horner, who launched the company in 2001, said: “It was wonderful to win this coveted award for the second time.

“We had to go through a rigorous selection and interview process, and it was such great news that we were determined by the judges to be the best adviser firm in the whole of the UK.

“We are thrilled to be acknowledged as a company that delivers outstanding service and financial planning solutions to our clients. It’s wonderful to be recognised like this by the best in the profession – and fantastic that a firm born in Bristol is leading the way and setting national standards of excellence.”

Pill-headquartered Paradigm Norton, which also has offices in London and Torquay, services around 1,200 financial planning and tax clients, making it one of the largest truly independent financial planning companies in England with £1bn-plus of assets under management.

After recently introducing a new employee ownership structure, designed to future proof the company against senior shareholder retirements and provide stability and security for both clients and the team, all 67 members of the team have a stake in the business.
