Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby is inviting grassroots organisations that benefit their communities in parts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire to apply for financial support from its community fund.

The fund, now in its second year, provides up to £300 for organisations or charities in areas where Barcan+Kirby has its six offices.

The money can be used towards any cause that will positively impact the community in BS1, BS3, BS7, BS8, BS15 and BS35.

The fund has previously helped the Marmalade Trust, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and helping people make new friendships (BS1), Bedminster Community Choir & West Street Youth Club (BS3), Soul Food community meals (BS7), Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust (BS8), Bourne Family Project, which provides creative and talking therapies (BS15), and JIGSAW Thornbury (BS35), a group supporting families with children with additional needs.

Barcan+Kirby head of marketing and business development Lucy Harttrup, who also chairs its charity and social committee, said: “It is great to be able to relaunch our community fund for its second year and continue our ongoing partnerships within our community.

“We would like to encourage organisations and individuals actively working for the benefit of their local area to apply.”

JIGSAW Thornbury CEO Tor Goodman added: “We were delighted last year to be chosen to receive financial support from Barcan+Kirby’s community fund.

“After such a difficult few years, we have many families needing support with mental health challenges and we felt a positive way to use the funding would be to purchase resources for our Project 5 Resilience and Wellbeing Programme.

“We have now supported over 100 families with this programme and are seeing excellent results. We are very grateful to Barcan+Kirby for their support with this project.”

Applications for the community fund are now open and will close on Friday 1 July. The winners will be announced in the week of 11 July.

Organisations wishing to apply for the fund must make their application by visiting the Barcan+Kirby website, where information can be found in the About Us section.
