Opportunities for trade in Czech Republic and Slovakia outlined to West firms

West firms are being urged to explore trading opportunities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia as the countries continue to experience steady economic growth with a strong demand for UK goods and services.

High-value investment opportunities exist in many sectors – from science, innovation, defence, security, energy and power, to education, training, food, drink and healthcare – in both countries.

West firms will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insight into the countries by taking part in a trade mission organised by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) South West between November 25 and 29.

It will give delegate companies invaluable insight into the economies and business culture, so commercial opportunities in these markets can be explored and developed.

The visit is being preceded by a pre-mission briefing seminar on September 12 at the Aztec Hotel in Bristol, where companies will find out about some of the export opportunities available in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The event will also provide the opportunity for businesses to assess the market and hear first-hand from West companies successfully trading in the countries.

As part of the trade mission, delegates will have access to tailored market research and will also have the opportunity to meet prospective customers and partners via briefing receptions held at the British Embassies in Prague, pictured, and Bratislava. Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) advisors in the UK, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will be on hand to support delegates in identifying potential partners through the EEN Cooperation Database.

UKTI South West International Trade Advisor Hilary Green will be leading the mission. Hilary said: “This visit is a great opportunity for businesses to research these growing markets, make new contacts or appoint a representative or partner. There is a growing need for products, services and investment in these countries and both markets offer excellent prospects in a number of sectors.

“Places are limited so I would encourage anyone interested in taking part in this market visit to get in touch as soon as possible and attend the pre-mission briefing on 12 September, to find out more.”
