Specialist recruitment company MDE Group is set to create 20 jobs over the next 18 months following the recent opening of its Bristol office.
The Norwegian company, which specialises in recruiting staff for oil and gas deepwater and greenfield projects around the globe, said it was attracted to Bristol by its growing reputation as an energy centre.
Managing director Tom Nixon said: “Bristol is an exciting and growing hub for energy-related companies, with some very skilled people in the area.”
It is the firm’s first office outside Norway, where it operates in four cities. The Bristol office is in Newminster House in Baldwin Street, where MDE has leased 2,431 sq ft on a five-year lease on the fourth floor of the recently-refurbished building.
Mr Nixon added: “We looked at a number of properties and Newminster House offered a perfect location with easy access for everyone, plus car parking.”
The letting was secured by the Bristol offices of property agents Knight Frank and Colliers acting on behalf of landlord LaSalle Investment Management.
MDE’s arrival follows the recent announcement that energy company GE Oil & Gas is to create 200 jobs in Bristol by opening an underwater engineering centre at Aztec West.
Knight Frank Associate Joanna Crofts said: “Newminster House is proving a popular destination, with its striking presence on Baldwin Street.”
Engineering consultancy Sinclair Knight Merz recently doubled its presence there when it leased an additional 1,450 sq ft of office space. The expansion followed its acquisition of Colin Buchanan, which already occupied 1,500 sq ft in the building.
Technical director Chris Pyatt said: “We are introducing new people and new services to the South West and the Newminster House offices provide a good base from which to expand.”
