Leading healthcare charity Nuffield Health has appointed experienced HR manager Lucy Melling to its new Chesterfield Hospital, which is due to open in 2013.

The redevelopment in Clifton represents a £20m investment by Nuffield Health, and Lucy will play a key role in ensuring the smooth transition from its existing St Mary’s site to the opening of the new hospital facility.

Lucy, 44, will be responsible for delivering an organisational development strategy, encompassing recruitment and selection, training and development and communication. This will also include the development of an organisational structure to support the new Chesterfield Hospital which will lead to the recruitment and selection of both clinical and support staff.

Commenting on the appointment, Lucy said: “It’s an extremely exciting time to be joining Nuffield Health in Bristol. The start of this major redevelopment will involve a complete assessment of the staffing structure of the new hospital, the services it will offer and determining the resources required.

“For me, good human resources are paramount to running a successful organisation and I feel very privileged to be involved in this project.”
